We liked Muggia.
We liked Muggia. It is small and easy to navigate the old town. The main Piazza has several bars and cafes, friendly and welcoming for a drink or a meal, and fun for people watching. There are more cafes and bars towards the waterfront. Just stroll around and enjoy the relative tranquility. We arrived in Trieste by train, taxi to Muggia was around 35 euros. We took a day trip back to Trieste by ferry (fun in itself), and did lots of walking from Muggia. It's a nice respite from the tourist circuit, and so pretty with stone buildings and small alleyways, plus the castle (exterior) and Duomo to enjoy. Muggia Vecchio, up on the hill behind, was well worth the walk.Guest review bySallyNew Zealand

The apartment is superbly renovated and decorated, SUPER CLEAN, cosy and flawlessly furnished. Regarding facilities, nothing was missing! Not even the nice gestures to make you feel welcome. (local biscuits, water, etc.) The location was awesome in the very center of Muggia and everything I needed was in walking distance. I had the chance to meet the host. Plenty of free parking on site and the room was a big space. It was warm so we appreciated the aircon in our bedroom. We enjoyed the outdoor space and could eat at our patio table with items purchased at Muggia supermarket, and with the good wine Paolo gifted us. Breakfast was very good. The apartment is compact but very comfortable and has everything you need. Alice was a very kind and helpful host. She gave us great tips for the town, provided easy check in instructions, and answered our questions.
