Moneglia is a wonderful small beach city on the Liguiran coast. There are definitely tourists, however not nearly as much as the near by area of Cinque Terra. We felt like we were in a big resort since you would run into the same people throughout your trip. There are some truly amazing restaurants in the town serving amazing local cuisine such as Derna, Monile, and Bistrot Julia. We also loved the local foccacia from Tutta farina del mio sacco for an easy lunch. The people are very nice every where you go, especially when you venture a bit more into the city away from the beach. Lastly, the beach here was amazing with soft sand. This is a town that Italians come to to vacation.
This is a town that Italians come to to vacation. They avoid Cinqueterra and come here. It is an authentic beach town, only missing the "shops"... but that is what makes it not a touristy area. We had never heard of his place and said there to read a long drive from Rome. Moneglia is sort of an island reached by way of one-way tunnels. Once there it is a very cosy and small resort with much space for walking, bars and restaurants. It hasn't changed much in 50 years , very nice village hope it ll stay the same for like forever. Went there for a week made of quality time and relaxed strolling around the village , sitting on benches under a tree early afternoon or walking uphill on the way back to hotel at dusk ,rewarded by the gorgeous view of the bay once you get there . Food rolls back the years as I have Genoan heritage so had to be careful not to indulge too much with focaccia or pansotti or fritue... .Guest review bymassimo

Our room had a stunning view of sea it was spacious with furniture appropriate for the era of the hotel. The pool and terrace were spectacular with also amazing views of the sea. It was an easy walk to Moneglia where there was plenty of good restaurants and cafes and shops. If you walk to the far end of the bay you might be able to enjoy some waves, perfect for our kids (8,11 and 13). The house is great, and even though the train runs close by the house, the noise does not bother too much (and my wife is very noise sensitive). You arrive at the place in the middle of a tunnel. We missed the exit as we did not expect to enter the place in the tunnel, and had to go back again. The staff is very generous, helpful and accommodating. The nearest town Moneglia, is a gem!
