Militello in val di Catania was just named one of three most beautiful villages in all of Italy. Yes, they pick different ones every year, but there are 8,000 comunes in Italy. This is the place to go if you are tired of the crowds in the towns by the sea. It is an authentic Sicilian village with similar Baroque churches to the ones the crowds flock to in Noto. Not a strong tourist infrastructure, but several pizzerias, lots of bakeries and bars. Very vibrant village. It is worth a visit to the cemetery with it many stunning resting places.
