A small and quiet town between the capitol of Iceland and some of the main tourist sites. Right on the way to Skógafoss and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Diamond Beach. There is a street food truck run by a nice man and woman. Definitely check it out!Guest review byAbdullahUnited States - 10.0
Such a fab place to stay. Waterfall up the road.
Such a fab place to stay. Waterfall up the road. The ferry to the Waterman Islands is 30 mins away; you must visit the puffin and Beluga sanctuary on the islands. You have Vik only an hour away and you see volcanos and mountains everywhere you look. The airport is 1hr45mins away and a wonderful drive. Hella a bit sparse.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and...
Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.Guest review bySheilaCanada - 2.0

I went with my 12 year old son and we had the best experience. If you get the chance, ask the hotel if Fred is available for a private site seeing tour. Fred took us out for the day and it was one of the best experiences I've had. He took us to the most amazing natural wonders of Iceland and is incredibly knowledgeable about the sites and the history of Iceland. He's funny too! In addition very conveniently placed as an entry point into the Highlands. This is what appealed to me enough to book in the first place.
