Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back...
Contrary to some reviews of Padangbai being a dodgy back water town, we found it to be a hidden gem. Lovely beaches and good places to swim and snorkel. Much smaller than I anticipated and far less humbug and mass tourism than other parts of Bali. Would definitely recommend staying here a couple of days, especially if catching an onward boat to other islands in Indonesia.Guest review byAnneAustralia - 8.0

Amazing location close to the harbour to take the boat to Gili islands. We checked in almost 3am in the morning because our flight got delayed and they were very comprehensive about it, Excelent breakfast, the owner is so helpful and kind. amazing rooms for only one or 2 nights. We thought we might need a night to stop over before getting the boat onto the Gili islands but in hindsight we could have done it all in the same day. There is not much happening here so I do not recommend staying long, there are some nice cafes to chill at if you are here. There appears to be some diving schools if that is what you are looking for. Convenient for our purpose as a link to the Gilis and Lombok...
Convenient for our purpose as a link to the Gilis and Lombok...most people were in transit to these destinations as Padang Bai is a ferry port. Wouldn't recommend for a beach holiday but more than adequate for the reasons stated. We we out of season so less human traffic. Not for us in High Season.Guest review byraymondUnited Kingdom

The owner and staff are great, very genuine and old school hospitality. Padangbai itself is often an aggressive tourist trap, so it's nice to come back to accommodation that is the complete opposite to that. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with a balcony and view. Fan is adequate. Rooftop terrace has great views and the breakfast is excellent. Pancake was the best I had in Bali. Wifi in my room was good.
