Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing.

Rio Dulce is a great spot to vacation, it's very relaxing. If you want more night life...then probably best to stay in Livingston. If you are ever in Livingston, the best Tapado was at a small restaurant Restaurante Gabby!! Unforgettable!! El Viajero didn't come close in flavor, maybe we just went on a bad day. Must see Siete Altares, beautiful waterfalls and blue turquoise water. We never felt unsafe, it's a very tranquil place in Rio Dulce.

If you travel solo you can't do anything as it's just for...

If you travel solo you can't do anything as it's just for groups else yours are in excess of £250! It's not safe to hike to seven altars alone (I was told by locals) so it's just very far for no reason. The bus from GC was supposed to be 5 hours but it was 11!

Rio Dulce is a beautiful and amazing destination, ideal for relaxation and enjoying a wide range of water activities. It also offers a variety of excellent restaurants, and the people are incredibly friendly.

I really wanted to like Rio Dulce.

I really wanted to like Rio Dulce. It turned out to be only a hub for boat and bus travel for me. Having spent two months in Guatemala by the time I got there, I was not surprised by the poverty or conditions. That said, I didn’t find much other than the castle to be places I wanted to see more of. It was very hot and humid in early July.

Amazing hotel in pure nature next to the river, 5-10 minutes boat ride from Rio Dulce town. Our stay was very relaxing, in the hotel you are surrounded by trees, flowers, water birds and animals. They have also great restaurant and swimming pool. Rooms very really nice, clean and comfy. The only downside was too much of light in the room in the morning - there are curtains over the windows, but only over the bottom windows. Then the room has also 2 big windows in the roof and there are no curtains, so the sun wakes you up really early :)

The location is amazing, on an offshoot from the Rio Dulce. Boat to Rio Dulce is free 3 times a day. Rooms are comfortable and Cabin style. Staff are extremely helpful and very accomodating, but you need to know a little Spanish. Really chilled sitting on the riverside with a beer or cup of tea. Food in the restaurant was excellent and very reasonable. They even sorted the boat to Livingston to leave from the hotel. Can't recommend this place enough!

Loved the place! I can 100% recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to chill at a unique location. The room was also really nice, we had everything we needed. The restaurant of the hotel was great with a lot of choices and really affordable prices. Super glad we decided to stay here for 3 nights!

The staff was so friendly, helpful and professional. Especially Ninnete who has excellent english and helped us with so many things. We loved the nature reserve just behind the hotel. We appreciated the filtered water for use of the guests.

Beautiful property right on the river. The owner was very friendly and helpful with organising excursions. There are kayaks you can rent and the food at the hotel was delicious - vegetarian and the yummiest homemade chocolate for desert
