Matala is one of those places you didn't know you needed to visit until you go.. and then never want to leave. A long, sandy beach, with beautiful clear water, Matala is big enough to have a wide selection of places to eat & shop and yet not be too big. The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...Guest review byJana - 10.0

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach). It was very close to the beach and town and had a great view over the bay. Our host was very friendly and helpful, she and her husband came over to fix the shower head very quickly after it had broken, and even messaged to check that we were ok after the earthquake!
