Loved Athens. Food is amazing and heaps of stuff for the history buffs! Plenty of cafes and restaurants and most of the major sites are within walking distance of each other. As someone who loves visiting historical cities and eating good food, I had a blast! I felt safe as a woman traveling with her husband and everyone was friendly. The food was my favorite part by far! Public transportation was cheap and easy to use. As for my husband, someone who hates cities and prefers a relaxing setting, he didn’t like Athens. We loved the location we stayed.. museums,restaurants shops everything was so local. The waterfun water park that we went to was a little further out but was clean and safe.
