Went there in July which gave us perfect 20°C and a hideaway from the extreme heat in the valleys. Absolutly wonderful views of the mountains around town. Absolutely stunning! The drive up is incredible with amazing views at every turn. Gergeti Trinity Church with Mount Kazbeg towering behind it was breathtaking - one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen. Great hiking, fresh mountain air, and jaw-dropping scenery everywhere. The town is busy being on the Georgian Military Highway and lacks the charm of other towns. However, the beauty is in the absolutely gorgeous surrounding landscape and the hiking. Staff are very friendly although there is a slight language barrier if you don’t speak Georgian or Russian, but it can be easily overcome.
