Victorian Resort with a Welsh Twist
The most popular Wales seaside resort, Llandudno covers a peninsula with 2 sandy coastlines. The North Shore’s wide Victorian promenade is lined with period buildings which now house seafront hotels and guest houses. The beach itself stretches all the way between the Little Orme and Great Orme headlands, passing an outdoor swimming pool.
A historic tram climbs to the peak of Great Orme, where Bronze Age copper mines can be visited. The top is also reachable by cable car from Happy Valley, a recreation area with gardens and an artificial ski slope.
A road runs around the base of the headland passing the historic Grand Hotel, a property available on Booking.com and overlooking the Grade II-listed pier – the longest in Wales. The West Shore is much less developed and the Maesdu Golf Course forms most of its shoreline.
Of course, Llandudno has its fair share of traditional seaside pursuits such as donkey rides and fish and chip shops.
The town also has a modern retail park near the train station and Venue Cymru event centre, and wrought-iron canopies shade smaller shops along Mostyn Avenue, Broadway and Street. The latter - Mostyn Street - is effectively the high street and becomes brightly decorated during the Victorian carnival in May.

I would recommend a trip to the Great Orme, complimented by a pastie and cream scone at the top. A walk along the pier which encompasses rides, arcades and places to sit down for refreshments and is dog friendly.A ride on the hop on hop off bus which stops at Conway Castle. Make sure you get on one of the newer buses which has better seats and a better P.A system so you can here the comentry clearly. Good flat clean promenade, easy for walking. Plenty of nearby places to go, e.g. Rhos-on-Sea Conwy. The town is within easy reach and the small museum very interesting.The tram to the top of the Gt. Orme an attraction not to be missed. Always a pleasure visiting Llandudno, but found it difficult finding a suitable restaurant to have an evening meal. We did eat out at Conwy and Deganwy. Great hotel (four saints brig y don). Great shopping street behind with plenty of bars and restaurants, coffee shops etc also main shops on retail park at end of Mostyn Street. Pier great for entertainment, fair rides, arcades, food and drinks. Local swimming pool if no pool in hotels, outdoor splash pool for kids during summer months with park by side of lifeboat station on the seafront. Beach great for kids to play, pebbly but decent. Lovely clean seaside town. Long flat promenade for buggies and wheelchairs along the sea front but beware of the seagulls if eating near pier. Plenty of cafe’s in town. Many bars with entertainment. Magic bar great for all the family. Great place to visit for couple days.Guest review bySusan
