I stayed here for one night. The modern decor is lovely. The staff here are very polite and helpful. All my problems were solved. When we checked in, the receptionist told us how to park the car. After leaving I found that I left my thing in the room. So I called them. Gautam is a great guy! He helped me find it and mailed it to me. His patience and help made me feel very warm. I will choose this place again next time.

Absolutely fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Express Inverness! From the moment we arrived, Judith and her team made us feel truly welcome. The service was warm, efficient, and genuinely caring — nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped, exactly what you'd hope for after a long day of travel. Breakfast was fresh, well-stocked, and managed with a smile — a great start to each day. Judith leads by example — her professionalism and kindness clearly inspire the whole team. It’s rare to find hospitality this consistently excellent. Thank you for making our visit so memorable.

FAQs about hotels in Inverness

Gateway to the Highlands and Loch Ness

A jewel with historic buildings and charming streets, Inverness is surrounded by a typical Scottish Highland landscape. It is located 10 km from Loch Ness, along the mouth of the Ness River and the Moray Firth coast. It is regarded as the northernmost city in the United Kingdom, and capital of the Highlands.

Take a walk around the Old Town, visit St Andrew’s Cathedral, and make a stopover in the charming Victorian Market. The Old High St Stephen's Church is the oldest building in town, and has been a religious site since pre-Christian times.

The Inverness Castle overlooks the river and is nowadays the seat of the Sheriff Court. A hotel in Inverness city centre is ideal to enjoy the different cultural and recreational activities in town.

Watch the Atlantic salmon jumping out the river near the Ness Islands, and try to catch a glimpse of the famous monster of Loch Ness. The Cairngorms National Park is 40 km away, and Chanonry Point is the best spot to watch dolphins, just 24 km away.

Inverness hotels include a large offer of small, cosy guest houses, B&B’s, and rural cottages, allowing a closer contact with the nature. Don’t miss the Inverness accommodation deals on Booking.com!

Just went for a concert at the cathedral. That was walkable from our B and B, and we enjoyed the evening. Went to a small Chinese Restaurant called Fat Buddha quite nearby. It was more of a takeaway but fine to sit and eat in for an hour or more.

Pretty River Views, Quick Visit: Inverness has a small, walkable downtown with a few highlights—the river views are pretty, the old architecture is charming, and we loved Hootenanny for dinner with live music as well as browsing at Leakey’s Bookstore. The Victorian Market was underwhelming aside from a couple of food spots. You can see the best of the town in just a few hours, making it a pleasant overnight stop on the way further north into the Highlands.

There are somehow literally no museums or libraries open on Mondays or tuesdays, which were the days I was stuck there as a travel layover. So I got stuck literally just sitting in a park in the rain twice for several hours waiting to check in to my hotel, as there was nothing else to do since I didn’t need anything from any stores or restaurants and no other indoor spaces or activities were open within an hour and a half of the city centre by public transit. There are also only two small, museums available even on other days. Inverness might actually have the worst museum ratio Ive encountered in the British isles. Almost everywhere else has some form of local history museum or the like, Inverness has one historic house and one art gallery.

Friendly welcome from host who is a mine of information about Scotland and Inverness, from lovely anecdotes to tips for places to visit and things to do. Rooms are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, every taste catered, be it fresh fruit salad, yogurt or porridge to a full cooked breakfast. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this cosy and comfortable guest house just 5 minutes walk from the centre of Inverness.

Enjoyed my stay, the hotel is in a suburb to Inverness, a short walk from the centre (less than 10 mins) which was good, city access without the city hassle. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room was good and spacious. There was plenty of parking to the rear of the hotel. Overall a good experience, would certainly stay there again
