A well-decorated apartment with good facilities in a pleasant location. Comfortable bed, well-equipped and spacious kitchen and a decent shower. Really enjoyed our stop-over here and would like to come again. Some pleasant walks from the property and a supermarket nearby, plus a pub, coffee shop and sandwich shop (impressive for a small village!).

Spent a birthday weekend there with friends and couldn’t have asked for anything more. The place was immaculate and much larger than we were expecting. The owners are lovely and incredibly helpful and clearly care about their guests enjoying their stay. 10/10 would return and stay if/ when back in the Lake District!

Finding their car park on arrival was not straight forward, but at reception, Kelly offered to come in the car with us, which was so helpful, had free use of the pool. Was a wet day, so stayed in for dinner which was excellent.

First of all the value for money is great!!! Upon check in we decided to go for a bigger room. It was renovated and more spacious. Location is really good, we had windows facing the castle, little supermarket is next door. The bed is very comfortable and the shower is amazing (water temperature, pressure)

There is a great boutique grocer on the way in to town. We dined at the Green Hill Inn 8 miles distant and had a wonderful dinner. The next morning, we had a short drive into the Lake District. It’s a gorgeous place in the country.

Dalston is a delightful little village just outside of Carlisle. There is a central "square" and this is where the accommodation is. There's various shops including an excellent co-op, butchers, gift shop and fish and chip shop. There used to be an excellent pub and restaurant on the square but sadly this has closed. There are also a couple of cafes. The one opposite has a Paddington bear sat outside in all weathers. You don't do that to teddy bears so I wouldn't go in! Outrageous. There is a lovely walk down by the river. You cross the road and head towards the white bridge over the river. Go past until you see a turning to the right. Carry on down there, past a large chimney and turn right again across a bridge. Then take the little path down to the path beside the river. It's a lovely walk back and only about 20 mins/half an hour.
