FAQs about hotels in Blackpool

Beside the Seaside, Beside the Sea

A favoured holiday spot since the Victorian era, Blackpool is a traditional English seaside town. Amusement arcades and crazy golf courses line the promenade and dotted between them are plenty of places to pick up fresh fish ‘n’ chips and Blackpool rock.

On the 5-mile sandy beach, children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and donkey rides. Old-fashioned entertainment at its best. At the other end of the scale is the Blackpool Pleasure Beach, a fairground complex comprising a variety of rides, including The Big One - once the world’s tallest and steepest rollercoaster. They actually had to get permission from nearby Blackpool Airport to erect it!

More seaside pursuits are on the town’s 3 piers, one of which is Grade II listed. However, the most recognisable landmark is the Blackpool Tower which houses a circus, 4D cinema and a world-renowned ballroom, to name a few. Modelled on the Eiffel Tower, it is spectacularly lit during the annual Blackpool Illuminations, when the whole town is bathed in bright lights. The trams plying the prom are also lit. Look out for the one shaped like a ship.

A popular stag and hen do destination, Blackpool offers accommodation ranging from North Shore hotels to South Shore B&Bs - see Booking.com for the best choice.

My first visit to see the lights, unfortunately it was cut short due horrendous wind + driving rain, which was a shame! We had to continue our journey on a packed tram! We throughly enjoyed our visit up the tower, with great views from the top!

We went on a bus tour of the illuminations which was something we would not do again. Very disappointing. The first hour was spent on the back roads seeing nothing but traffic lights and pedestrian crossings and the last half an hour was the actual illuminations which were quite nice but by which this tine we were already very bored and they were just too little too late. Totally not worth it. We also visited the pleasure beach where quite a few ride favourites were closed due to technical issues, including the ghost train and Wallace and Gromit which closed just as we got close to the front. A few hours later when it reopened we had to queue again spending almost another hour in the queue to then have the kids complaining because they had already done this once to get sent away. Blackpool is very run down to what it use to be and has only got worse each year. Sad to say our Blackpool holidays are over we won’t be returning other than for an odd day trip.

Fantastic place, so much to do with or without a family with children. Definitely need many days to get through it all. Generally if your fit enough you can walk everywhere. If not there are buses and trams. Cafes, restaurants, pubs etc everywhere. Friendly locals too. The illuminations are fantastic.

The best way to sum up our visit to Blackpool is that it is 2025 London prices for standards that peaked decades ago. Felt like everywhere I went I paid top price for sub standard, unclean and outdated rubbish.

Blackpool is always windy and rainy.

Blackpool is always windy and rainy. Illuminations are very much the same most years but still great to see. Lots of rubbish blowing around. Food places such as papas chippy and wetherspoons long queues to access. Blackpool is easy to get around walking, tram, buses or taxis. We choose to use the tram and walk to see the illuminations.

Very run down and dirty.

Very run down and dirty. Although we saw several cleaners in the centre doing a good job. Empty hotels and shops along the Golden Mile Plenty of places you can eat and some big named shops. Lights opposite the Tower were very good and although the Golden Mile was lit up, they were not as good or plentiful as in past years. Buses were plentiful and the drivers were very helpful.

Excellent central location with parking very close by. Cannot fault the hotel stay-or improve it in any way. So clean, orderly, well equipped and comfortable. Staff were brilliant and room was spacious. Many breakfast options in close proximity ,but very reasonable option for room service upon request . Highly recommended -it will be our absolute first choice for our next stay in Blackpool .

The room was lovely and cosy with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom is so lovely everything you need is there. The hotel was right on the seafront with parking at the front, that was a bonus for me. The staff was so lovely. I will definitely stay here again. A home from home feel.
