Our stay at New Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield was an unforgettable escape that exceeded every expectation, leaving us with memories we’ll cherish forever. This historic moated manor, brimming with centuries-old charm, blends timeless elegance with modern luxury, creating an experience that felt both enchanting and indulgent. The grounds were absolutely impeccable, a breathtaking sweep of lush gardens and serene landscapes. Strolling through the beautifully manicured gardens, framed by the tranquil moat, felt like stepping into a fairytale. The surrounding parkland offered peaceful trails where we spotted wildlife, adding a magical touch to our walks. The moat, alive with ducks and fish, was a captivating centerpiece we couldn’t stop admiring. The food was simply divine, with every meal a celebration of flavor. The restaurant’s modern British dishes, crafted with fresh, local ingredients, were bursting with creativity and beautifully presented. From leisurely breakfasts to exquisite dinners, each bite was a delight. We also loved the cozy lounge, where we savored expertly crafted cocktails and a decadent Afternoon Tea that felt like a treat fit for royalty. The dining alone left us dreaming of our next visit. The staff’s warmth and attentiveness were beyond exceptional, making us feel truly special. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond, anticipating our needs with genuine care. Their heartfelt hospitality, echoed in so many guest reviews, made every moment shine. We were also lucky to meet a local guest, staying with his wife, who shared fascinating stories about the hotel’s rich history, bringing its legacy to life in a way that deepened our appreciation. Our room was a heavenly retreat, blending historic charm with modern comfort. The beautifully designed space, with its elegant furnishings and serene garden views, was a perfect haven for relaxation.

FAQs about hotels in Birmingham

First-class Shopping, Culture and Sports

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centers. Well-known for its M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it's also a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.

Most city center hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping center, and behind that is Digbeth Bus Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.

The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Center) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.

Just across the street is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modeled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.

The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top soccer clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

I used to live in West Midlands but have not lived for a while. Birmingham is a lovely mutlicultural and lively city. Must visit, especially Cadbury in Bourneville, lovers of Cricket will like Edgebaston, the curry mile in Burmingham, Aston Villa for football lovers and many more things.

I love the city, and keep coming back to it, as I become more and more used to it, and find coffee shops and galleries I like to visit. I wasn't very well at the time - with an incipient asthma problem - but the city helped, and the weather was good, mild and bright. I had a tram ride or two, which are a special pleasure, and it's so reasonably priced and comfortable. The former Exchange in Millennium Square, which is run by the university, was a special favourite for morning coffee.

I've been visiting Birmingham on business for 30+ years. Over the last decade you can tell there has been a lot of investment. There are lots of good restaurants and pubs. And it feels like a safe place to wander around, for a major city.

I have been to Birmingham many times and always feel comfortable there. The people have always been friendly and helpful. It is an easy city to walk around and there is also a very good tram system. The big improvement came when changes to the city centre were made for the Commonwealth Games held here a few years ago. There is a very good selection of restaurants, particularly along the canal and The Mailbox area.

Everything was spotless and the decor was just beautiful. It really did feel like a home away from home. Definitely recommend for those who are looking for a quiet place to stay whilst still being in the middle of the city. Everything is within walking distance too, tram is only a 5 minute walk away and it takes you straight into the city centre. Staff at reception were very welcoming and helpful. Check in was super quick and smooth. Thank you to everyone at Aparthotel Birmingham! I will be coming back again for sure.

Loved the hotel, peaceful, staff were very polite and accommodating, and the room was so comfortable. Breakfast offered a large selection of options and was of excellent quality. Some reviewers complained about the dodgy neighbourhood. I don’t know where you snowflakes are coming from. May be you are from a village or from the past able to time travel. All British city centres are like this. It’s part of city life. The location is central and cheap. If you are a big girls blouse stay in an overpriced hotel on broad street :)

The Leanardo hotel is a nice place to stay when in Birmingham. There is easy access from the hotel to the city centre. There are many places to eat in the area, the area is busy with lots of places to go to in the evening. The hotel is clean and welcoming, and the staff are really helpful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very good but currently sometimes walking around Birmingham was like walking through a building site particularly on the way back to hotel from the centre. Although it was very quiet for a city centre hotel in terms of traffic at night.
