Staff were truly "wonderful" - a REAL credit to themselves and the company! The bed was the MOST comfortable.. I have EVER slept in..the linen..such quality and pristine! And..the grilled "brekkie" -though simple- was (by far..) the tastiest 'English-breakfast' EVER! My compliments to the cook..

This is a Pub as it should be, in the bar it even smells like a real pub should!! The people of Amersham don't know what they are missing if they don't call this their local. From walking in the door we felt really at home, Rob is a fabulous landlord and his staff are super. Everyone is so friendly and helpful (beyond the call of duty!). We were given a downstairs room as we had the 2 dogs with us, it looked out onto the beer garden at the back and was very spaceous and comfortable. The beds are really comfortable and the bathroom modern with a large shower area. The beer garden is not very busy and after 9pm it was very quiet back there. We probably had the best sleep of the holiday here. The pub itself serves food at lunchtime only but there are plenty of evening restaurants nearby, we went to the Indian round the corner which is out of this world. Breakfast and lunch are very good and there seems to be an endless choice of drinks available. Rob and his team are doggie friendly and couldn't do enough for us. I can really recommend this as a wonderful base for anyone visiting the area. There is a bus stop in front of the pub which links to the trains for London, etc. and the Tesco Extra a 5 minute walk away. If you are visiting Amersham forget the other Hotels! This is definitely the place to stay.

We had a very relaxing stay at Latimer House, and while all of the staff was very friendly and efficient, we had especially great service from the bartender Fred. He went above and beyond to ensure we had the gin we were looking for, and was super friendly and knowledgeable. The room was comfortable, beds were cozy, and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend and will return!

We ate in The Mad Squirrel, which was recommended by our host. It was fab; it even had live music. We also visited the Boot and Slipper pub. We really enjoyed it. The property is located within a very short walking distance of a Marks and Spencer Food hall and a Waitrose supermarket.

Quiet, quintessential Englishness to the town.

Quiet, quintessential Englishness to the town. Holds great memories for me as I grew up here. Historic and set in beautiful countryside and with easy access to the new town where there is a well laid out plethora of shops, cafes, restaurants and other services for you to explore and enjoy. If you enjoy a hike into the rural surroundings then there are plenty of options too.

You have to be clear that there are two parts to Amersham - the new bit where the station is located and then right down the hill, Old Amersham, as quaint an english high street as you will ever find. Thsi concerns the older part. The street is basically one long, wide road with boutique shops spread out at intervals and the prices to match for this kind of location! There are several eateries in the area both on the high street and off. The pleasure of Old Amersham is the beauty of the buildings; glimpses into little courtyards; the covered market area. It is delightful to the eye. Nothing much to do there. Visit the church and sit and eat or drink surrounded by a feast for the eyes.

Great if you are stopping over for business - my stay was for leisure a small break - as a couple we like our food and history so this was perfect - a shame the museum and certain restaurants are not open on a Monday/ Tuesday. Overall stay was lovely met some characters in the local inns and in the park. Do research into what is open on certain days. We stayed at The Crown and it was great even caught a ghost on camera. Overall the village is quaint and has a handful of shops that are different and unique and well situated to the area. First night stay we went to Hawkyns thd food melted in your mouth and was superb. Easy to get to and walked to and from areas. The second day which was our last we went to The Kings arms to eat on the Monday was very quiet. Both loved the buildings and the history that came with them. We were told they do tours and a haunted pub tour. Will definitely come back in the future.
