Paris was not that magical romantic city as they portray on movies or internet :) Roads with homeless people (sorry to say its the fact to mention), one picked argument & asking money simply when I walked on pavement, said I am tresspassing his home pointing to a old torn matress on the pavement, in Metro we were alerted by station officer (this was good). Uber service very bad! We are family with 2 teen children, the drivers upon seeing us waiting, simply wave the hand and cancel booking. One did cancel on us at 1am midnight at Eiffle Tower area. We still dont know whats wrong with 4 pax in taxi which is normal in Singapore where we live. Restaurants full of tourists, we waited sometimes 15 mins until we had to call them and waiter wasnt happy, he pointed another waiter & walked away :) Avoid Paris if you can, outside Paris Beaue, Lyon, Versailles were little better in our experience but expect low service quality compared to Asia we get in Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines etc. My feeling was, they are getting have too many tourists & good business, so they value the service standard. There's just so much to do in Paris that a week's trip wasn't sufficient. Moreover, I've struggled with jet lag the entire time, which cut down my energy by half. Even with better sleep management, I wish I had two solid weeks to see as many museums as possible, eat the unique cuisine, and try more activities. We were in Paris for 4 days, but managed to pack in a visit to Mont Martres, Eifel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, sunset cruise on Seine, la Louvre and Notre Dame Cathedral- just outside- the queues were too long. We walked around for most of our trips, but took a taxi to my favourite, the Palace and gardens of Versailles. We ate in "Le Royal" twice, lovely staff and fab food. Had a drink in L'Eden. Nice the first time, not so great 2nd. Had dinner on our last day in a lovely restaurant, "Non Coupables"with friendly staff, but meal was ruined a bit by a furry friend scurrying across the floor.Guest review byEithneIreland - 10.0

While it's good to see those most famous sites, stepping off the expected paths often bring even more memorable experiences. Explore the neighborhoods, sample the cafes and people watch, visit the local stores, try to engage the vibe of the people. Walk around the Ile Saint-Louis, eat at one of the restaurants there, have ice cream from Berthillon, then cross over to the Isle de la Cite and visit Notre Dame. Paris was beautiful. Our long weekend was perfect for a first time visit. Plenty to see and visit just make sure you book Le Louvre tickets in advance it pays to pre-plan. Easy to get around and most historic locations are within walking distance of each other depending on you base location. 8th district was perfect for us.
