We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake...
We went at end of March, still plenty of snow and the lake is completely frozen but temperatures around 0. Was ideal for the kids who spent days in the snow! We saw the northern lights (had to stay up till 2am for a very lucky gap in the clouds but was worth it). Great place to visit, i think a lot of people just go to Rovaniemi to see the lights and do activities etc and it too is a great location, but Inari had a more small town vibe and better cultural information. Great place to watch norther lights.
Great place to watch norther lights. There is a fantastic Saami museum - Siida with big indoor and outdoor exhibition. From here you can go for a hike to Otsamo hill and Pielpajarvi wooden church. In summer you can also go on a cruise around lake Inari. There are also local companies offering activities like husky sleeging or fishing.Guest review byEmiliaPoland - 10.0
We went on a snowmobiling trip and a dog sledding trip.
We went on a snowmobiling trip and a dog sledding trip. We liked both but really enjoyed the dog sledding more. The cabins on the lake at night, when the northern lights came out, were perfect. Yes it was cold but we could go in an out of the cabins and take pictures as the northern lights waxed and waned. Pretty little town, beautiful nature, very few people in the streets. Northern lights!! Not many places to eat or to go out to, but it wasn't a problem for us. There's also a big museum and a cultural center there, hotels, a souvenir shop and supermarkets, and generally many things specially for the tourists. There is apparently no public bus going between Inari and the Ivalo airport (only Inari and the Ivalo town), but it's possible to book a shuttle bus.Guest review byjosephschwarzGermany - 10.0

the Wilderness hotel was fantastic. We love to hike and there are quite a few nice hikes in the area. The museum was very impressive and certainly worthwhile a visit. The restaurant at the hotel was very good and we ate there every night of our stay. Highly recommended!Guest review byTamarIsrael

We loved the restaurant (a little expensive and they should make bigger portions, but it was super) where we had dinner once. Breakfast was the best ever! So many choices and a very high-quality level. Our room was nice, bathroom was not that big, especially shower, but had all the necessery. Very well-located.
