Everything was good. The staff was really nice with us, the breakfast was amazing and with a lot of choice. The swimming pool was really good and in front of the Nile. And the best, the view from the balcony to the Nile, Just perfect!

The Pavilion Winter is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well-positioned. Our room was tastefully decorated, clean and spacious with a good-sized bathroom complete with bathrobes, slippers and lovely toiletries. During our stay there were 3 dining options on site but you need to be smartly dressed for 2 of them, so we opted for the "casual" BBQ which is served near the swimming pool. There is a buffet offering a variety of vegetables and starters, which changes daily. The meat is brought to the table on a small charcoal grill and is excellent. Various wines are served. Local wines go for around 900 EGP a bottle and were good. The service was excellent and the waiters are very friendly and attentive. It was my birthday and they brought a cake and flowers to the table and I was seranaded by all the waiters. Really special! The breakfast is also a buffet and there is a really good range of products plus tea, coffee, fruit juice etc. Room service is available 24hr. The swimming pool is stunning (and heated) and you can order food and drinks from the bar there until around 5pm. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again. There are security guards outside the hotel complex and the only negative aspect is that the minute you go out of the hotel you are hassled by touts (not the hotel's fault obviously!). We walked a little way down the road and got a taxi for 150Egp to Karnak. The local going rate for a taxi is 100-150EGP for a single journey but you need to establish the price before you get in the taxi. The touts outside the hotel ask for 400.

Located on the West Bank of Luxor it's super easy accessible with the public ferry (only 5 EGP) and in walking distance. The owner is an archaeologist and is happy over any genuine interest in egyptology, so he'll take the time and sit down with you to explain everything you've seen in the tombs and temples. He organised for me a bike rental and also airport transfer, which was all very helpful. He's working hard to maintain the little pond and keep it free from plastic. It's a true gem with beautiful views at sunrise and sunset.

This is probably my favourite accomodation in all of Egypt. The balloons literally crossed on top of us and you are so close the attractions that makes this place unbeatable. What I found the mot amazing is definitely the food, breakfast and dinner I had there and would absolutely recommend, cooked with such talent and from their own garden (or community), you can't beat the taste, made with generous proportions the price for it is very fair. The bedroom is beautiful and immerse you in the area, the accomodation itself has such a distinct look. Staff is very friendly, this is a place of peace and don't be fooled by those who say it is hard to access the area or get taxis there, this is not true at all.

I really enjoyed seeing various monuments and then relaxing at my hotel. Most of the monuments are very close to where you'd be staying - which is really pleasant. There are several very reasonable tour operators and always lots of availability, during the off season. I recommend going between June - December, as there's more availability and it's not crowded.

If I have to go back to Luxor ever again - I would pick a Hotel with a view and good food, and outside of the city centre (avoid Luxor Temple/Souk areas). Honestly, if I had to do it again, I would just leave the hotel with a private driver and guide (and air conditioner) to visit all the temples and tombs, and the Hassan Fathy (architect) house, mosque and neighbourhood. Buy nothing and do nothing in the city centre. I loved all the Temples and Tombs visited, definitely worth while and amazing architecture (Karnak will be forever in my memory), but had a terrible experience with the city itself due to the excessive aggression to tourists in the centre. The Western side of Luxor seemed a bit calmer and more genuine. The city is experienced with a constant aggression by people trying to sell you things. It is overwhelming. To the point that it made me averse to it. The souk was full of fake/low quality items and the same applies to the alabaster factories & perfume shops the guides try to take you due to their commissions' revenue. There are just too many scams and everything was outrageously overpriced. I bought all I wanted and needed in Cairo.

A guided tour to the Valley of Kings and Queens is a must.

A guided tour to the Valley of Kings and Queens is a must. Also the temples of Luxor and Karnak are worth visiting. Easy to get around by taxi (haggling a must), but Uber was not reliable (one guy turned up with our booking on his phone but in a different car and wanting to be paid again!). Some locals looking for custom were a bit pushy at the temples- be prepared to ignore and walk on. Overall an amazing city full of historic sights.

I booked a 7-hour tour with guide and that was enough time to see the Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Valley of the Kings, and Hatshepsut Temple. I guess I could have taken a river cruise or done a hot air balloon ride the next day, but one day/2nights was plenty for me! Maybe if it hadn't been 100 F I would have wanted to stay longer!

Trip of a lifetime.....you have to decide East Bank or West Bank. West Bank is close to the Valley of the Kings.....but East Bank has the museums, hotels, restaurants etc. We got a taxi to East Bank each night and ate in The Steigenberger-Thai restaurant....excellent The balloon ride is not for the faint-hearted.....we landed in a wheat field and had a whip round for the distraught farmer....22 in the basket. Make sure you have afternoon tea in the garden of The Winter Palace... minimum 10$ spend...memorable
