We stayed for 4 nights in one of the separate houses, which was really spacious, lovingly decorated, offered total privacy and also the most amazing sunset panoramas. The sound of the birds at dawn and dusk and the parrots flying over every evening was unforgettable. We had everything we needed, the kitchen was well stocked, there were even snacks and drinks to buy if needed and there was a delicious menu to choose from if you wanted to order breakfast or dinner. We had dinner one night and it was really excellent food; we wished we’d done it more often. The pool area and grounds are a little piece of paradise. You can’t get enough of the view from the pool area and the pool itself is just beautiful. the whole property is completely unique and the best place we stayed in a month long trip in Costa Rica. Add to that the wonderful host Susanne, who organized so much for us, and the sweet dog Negrita, we wouldn’t hesitate to come back or to recommend this place to people looking for something truly special.

Really great authentic, high quality dinner and also breakfast; the rooms (bungalows) are much more beautiful than the pictures are showing - really nice rooms with everything you need. the surroundings are very quiet with a beautiful garden; the owners are more than friendly and helpful! Monteverde and Santa Elena is good reachable in a short drive. We would come to Rancho de Lelo again for sure!! Thank you for everything!

The villa is located in the countryside and so every moment is filled with fresh air, butterflies and bird song. Sitting in the hot tub looking across the cloud-filled hills is a treat not to be missed. The villa itself was spacious, immaculately clean and had everything you need, thoughtfully provided by the owners, including a dehumidifier, Netflix, a kettle etc. The attractions of Santa Elena and Monteverde are close by and are easily accessible. Communication with the owners was excellent - friendly and helpful throughout. This is a wonderful villa and we highly recommend it.

My room was very clean, there was ample hot water, WiFi worked well, staff and other guests were very friendly, staff very helpful with with booking activities/transport, grocery store within walking distance, and I loved having the shared kitchen to cook my own food!

Breakfast at this hotel was some of the best we had in Costa Rica. The staff was always so attentive and available at any time to assist and even took the time to learn our names. The room was so nice with a lot of modern furniture and amenities. Highly highly recommended to stay here during your time in Monte Verde. Pura Vida!

We stayed in the Sunset Room, which was a truly amazing experience. The room itself (the tent) was spacious, and the adjacent kitchen well equiped with a nice minibar. Very good breakfast. The hot tub and the shower on the terrace were a marvelous experience. We were also pleased with the provided earplugs 🙂. We highly recommend a stay here - Glamping++!

Staff were very welcoming and knowledgable about surrounds and tours assisting us greatly with getting around and seeing what we had hoped to visit. Joselyn and Erica were so lovely and kitchen staff also very friendly and attentive. There was a resident sloth in the garden which was a treat. The grounds were maintained beautifully with many butterflies. Flowers in room which was also a special touch. Rooms were large and very comfortable. We loved our stay and felt very welcomed. Thank you.

The stay at Hotel Belmar was really something special. I stayed twice at this place during our road trip through Costa Rica. The pure nature of Monteverde, the architecture of the hotel, and also the atmosphere of the hotel make this really a special place and we had no other place in Costa Rica where we felt like at home as we did here. I did a tour to the Madre Tierra farm with my daughter and a horseback ride. It was such a beautiful experience we will never forget. The breakfast and dinner was perfect and the restaurant is so beautiful with a remarkable view over the cloud forest. We will really miss this place as it sparked magic and means something to us.
