This lodge is a treasure. Bungalows of different sizes and facilities are scattered throughout the forest. We stayed in the spacious centre bungalows with large panoramic windows overlooking the forest, a seating area and an outdoor shower. All furnished to a high standard, wonderful bed and bed linen. There is an (empty) fridge and daily small fresh bottles of water and air conditioning. We only met very friendly and helpful people. The whole atmosphere is very relaxed and the location above the gorge, the beautiful architecture and design do the rest. We stayed at the lodge at the beginning of December. At this time of year, the dry forest is full of leaves and particularly beautiful. You should know that this is not the case at the end of the dry season. The food was very good and the selection of dishes offers enough variety even if you are there for several days. From our point of view, the price-performance ratio is also good. The (cold and warm) pools and the thermal river where you can enjoy the warm water in a natural environment are wonderful. There are monkeys but unfortunately few other animals, especially few birds compared to other areas in Costa Rica. However, this is due to the dry forest ecosystem. Due to its proximity to the airport in Liberia, the lodge is a good place to end a trip to Costa Rica.

The staff of the hotel was really nice (especially Carlos) and helpful. Food in the restaurant is very tasty, there is beautiful view on the volcano. Good localisation also. I really recommend this hotel.

Time really stands still in this beautiful oasis on a hill. The stunning view over the forest, accompanied by the chirping of various birds, is enhanced by the frequent rainbows that form daily due to its location between different microclimatic areas. We stayed at Destino for one night and really liked it! The place is surrounded by nature, and on a clear, sunny day, you can see three volcanoes. One of the coolest features of the rooms is that one of the walls is made of natural rock, giving you the feeling of being in a cave - yet everything is modern and well-built. The hosts were very welcoming too. Liz sent us lots of great recommendations for things to do in the area. You can also enjoy an outdoor bath with hot thermal water that comes straight from the ground. The highlight of the property is the cold river, which you can reach within a few minutes. In the Costa Rican heat, swimming in that fresh, flowing water was absolutely amazing. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and quiet, while still staying in a comfortable and thoughtfully designed house.

Malekus Mountain Lodge is a beautiful property. The Lodge is the perfect base for hiking the local parks, and the breakfasts are varied & delicious. We stayed here for 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. Johnny (I think he is the owner or manager), could not have been more hospitable. He welcomed us with a coffee and snacks after a long journey from Nicaragua. He arranged a room with 2 single beds into a double room with air conditioning even though the hotel was busy. He also helped us with transport and recommendations for activities, as well as showing and telling us about all the wildlife that surrounds the hotel. He is so kind. The hotel is very cute and comfortable. The breakfast was filling and delicious, and you eat it whilst sat outside listening to the birds and nature. Would absolutely stay here again!

beautifull jungle walk in the property with access to the beautifull river. Tucans and other birds visited us every morning. two minutes from the villa, is one of the nicest walks to a great watrfall.

We stayed two nights, and the lodge is excellent. We had dinners both days, which were very good. Great staff. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeder, some toucans showed up. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
