We were looking for accommodation a little past Drake Bay that was even more remote. The location is exceptional. The rooms are simply furnished. The beach is 50 meters away, the nature surrounding the accommodation, the wonderful family that welcomes you here with authentically homemade dishes. We had an unforgettable experience here for 4 days.

The hotel is isolated, so you only hear the sounds of the jungle there. you can see a lot of birds right outside of the room!! the room is very comfortable! the staff made our stay unforgettable - they helped us organize the tours in Corcovado National Park and Isla del Cano. they would organize the times for breakfast, departure from the hotel, pick us up in the end of the tours, the boat shuttles, so we could just enjoy and don’t have to think about any logistics at all. I highly recommend and I’ll be back!

Drake Bay is a remote yet breathtaking destination, and our stay at Natural Drake Bay Hotel made our visit truly unforgettable. We spent four nights here as the final leg of our Costa Rica trip, hoping to find a comfortable place that would enhance our experience of this faraway corner of the world. I’m thrilled to say we couldn’t have chosen a better place. Natural Drake Bay is a family-run hotel situated in a stunning location, perched perfectly to offer beautiful views of the bay. Both the pool and restaurant offer stunning views of the bay, creating a mesmerizing scene —at one point, we even saw whales jumping from the water! The beach is also just a 3 minute walk. Patricia, Daniel, and their team, particularly Victor, provide a luxurious experience. Throughout our stay, we felt very well cared for. Everyday, when you arrive, Patricia welcomes you with refreshing, beautifully scented cold towels, which is a wonderful treat after a hot day. Victor then serves the most exquisite fruit juices I’ve ever tasted. Even when activities (Corcovado Park visit, Snorkeling in Caño Island, ….) started at the crack of dawn, they were there to prepare breakfast for you The hotel takes great pride in highlighting local cuisine at dinner, with top quality produce exquisitely cooked. The rooms offer views of the surroundings, which were full of life (Birds, Iguanas, Monkeys) and relaxing in the hammocks was a spectacle in itself. Toucans would perch in the tree next to the cabin, while showering. The toiletries were of high quality, adding to the overall sense of luxury. In summary, Natural Drake Bay Hotel provided us with an exceptional experience, combining comfort, natural beauty, and warm hospitality.

Great place in the countryside, the owner's son spoke very good English, all problems were able and willing to solve. there is a warm family atmosphere. In the end I cooked dinner in the owner's kitchen alone for the whole family, we talked for a long time afterwards.....

Quality food, great staff Staff did put together a lot of stuff to do for us and every thing we asked for was settled in a record time. We were there for new years eve and the tuna was to die for !!! we saw toucans and other great wildlife in our three days at the property Thanks Roy for putting up with us !

We received a welcome drink right after we arrived. There was a station of drinks, coffee, tea and nibbles in the main area all day. The room was spacious and comfortable. From the restaurant one had a beautiful view of the ocean.

The staff were amazing, incredibly helpful and helped us have a brilliant time. The hotel has its own dock which makes going on tours of the area really easy. Highly recommend getting the transfer boat from Sierpe, very easy and quick.,

    Central location, comfortable room.

    Central location, comfortable room. The pool was really lovely to sit near and relax, cool off. Staff was exceptional and helpful in all manners. Receptionist helped me book all of my activities and was super accommodating. The restaurant staff were so friendly, and even remembered my name after I came a few times. Very convenient to have on site. It had everything I coud want and price was reasonable. I already want to go back and will book there again.

    It was very remote.

    It was very remote. We spent three nights there and enjoyed early active mornings and chill afternoons with an early dinner and bedtimes. There's not much to do at night which was fine by us. We loved watching the town wake up in the morning. We went diving at Cano Island and loved the turtles and all of the varieties of fish. The water was so clear when we went, it was one of the better diving experiences in Costa Rica so far!

    Fantastic stay.

    Fantastic stay. Exactly as described except wifi didn't work in our room, we had to go to the office/breakfast area to use it. The views from the room were spectacular overlooking Drake Bay. We had daily visits from capuchins, macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, etc The beds were comfortable as were the chairs and hammocks on the porch. Handrails going up the steep tire steps to the room would have been helpful. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and made to order.

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national...

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

    Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you...

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe. The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves.     Wonderful place to stay in Drake Bay! We booked a room in the new building and it was really great! Very neat and clean, nice hot shower and the bed was comfortable. Also really enjoyed the AC. The staff, both from the hotel and the restaurant, were really really kind and the pool is so nice!! Breakfast is great and it’s nice to have a restaurant close by when you are in need of a bite to eat after a long day at Corcovado NP.

    Lovely little resort in the stunning Drake Bay. The rooms have nets on the windows so when you sleep you can hear both the sea and the jungle - magical! The hosts are absolutely lovely and go over and above to make sure you feel at home. The hotel is actually attached to a restaurant where we had dinner - had an amazing pasta with fresh local seafood. Honestly a really lovely experience.

    Great family owned hotel with an amazing view on Drake Bay. We loved the place, the food and lovely family. The beach (Playa Gitana) is just a short walk away. Ingrid helped us a lot to plan our activities and hikes. The youngest family member is a talented painter…for those who like art check out here beautiful nature paintings! We can recommend Hotel Manolo 100%.

    The location of Sunset Lodge is located in Drake Bay, slightly outside of the small seaside town, the gateway to Corcovado Park. Daily birds arrived in the garden area. From the 2nd floor deck, we could spot many of them: toucans, tanagers, hummingbirds. The air con worked well in both bedrooms.

    We had a great stay and had a balcony to watch the birds from. It is very central so easy to walk to the beach and restaurants. Dylan was a very helpful host and we had a wonderful day trip to Corcovado arranged through the hotel.
