Lovely breakfast on the balcony was so special. The place was so peaceful! Around the garden we saw some small wildlife creatures and loved the plants everywhere. We felt very welcome and the staff was so helpful. This was a perfect way to start our holiday after long travel. Room was big with plenty of room for the luggage. We have traveled a lot but will remember this place for the rest of our lives, a hidden gem!

We were very happy to stay at this lovely small hotel with a beautiful garden and friendly hosts 🌸 The spacious, well-kept garden is wonderful, with funny rabbits freely hopping around🥰 Everything is very clean, and the breakfast and dinner were delicious. Located within 1 to 5 minutes walking to pharmacy, convenience shops, fast food and local restaurants. Excellent service, and really convenient transportation arrangement to and from airport. Concierge was brilliant and very helpful. I can believe how inexpensive it was for our stay. This is definitely a good choice for anyone on a budget. Very friendly staff. The room was nice and clean, the beads and pillows especially were super comfortable, I wish I could take then with me.

    I was there one night because it was close to the airport. I would not hang out there for a significant length of time. Not a good place to be after dark. Also came across a suitcase on a sidewalk. It had obviously been stolen and rummaged through.

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need.

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need. There is a Wal Mart, Denny's and lots of other restaurants, stores and cafes. There is not a lot to see in the town for tourists, but it is easy to get into San Jose where you can get a bus to Jaco which has a great beach. You can walk into the town easily and it felt very safe, but I recommend taking the local bus. I would only go here to get to another place, but for a day or 2 it is a nice town to visit.

    San Jose and the area around the airport doesn't have much to recommend it beyond getting in and out of the country. After driving around for two hours to see the highlights, we agreed we couldn't get out of the city fast enough. We ate at the Taj Mahal location near the hotel (had come highly recommended as we'd heard it was the best Indian food around and was an iconic location with peacocks walking around, etc), but the airport location is just an open air restaurant in a strip mall next door to a Starbucks.

    Alajuela was central for us as we visited La Paz the first day and it was an easy drive back after hiking up and down to see the waterfall and gardens at La Paz. Served as a good jumping off point the next day for a visit to downtown Sam Jose, the National Theater, the museum and central market.

    Alajuela has everything I like in a city without much down side. It's clean and safe with many markets, shops, malls, transportation options, green spaces and restaurants. It even has a large dance school.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it. Alajuela was only for flying to and from Costa Rica. It has horrible traffic and nothing worth seeing that I know of. But its airport has better flight connections for us than Liberia airport. The airport itself is good, but getting in and out is a hassle!

    We stayed for the first 2 nights of our trip and the last night before leaving Costa Rica. The hotel staff were lovely and could not have been more helpful. The hotel location is very convenient for the airport and a central place for wandering around Alajuela, finding restaurants, etc. The garden dining area was a pleasant place to relax, and the breakfast was delicious (the best Gallo pinto of our trip).
