Perfect place away from the hustle and bustle of the Centro Historico but not too far. The owner was very friendly and courteous. A hard working man always striving to make the place better. He shared his plan to expand the pousada. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in visiting Party. I loved the hydromassage in the room.

Villa Tiê was without a doubt one of the highlights of our entire trip. The overall vibe of the place was on point — it felt like a true hidden villa, tucked away yet full of charm, making every return to it after a day out feel special. The consistent white and light blue palette across the property set the tone for two moods we fell in love with: during the day, it offered this endless-summer feel with hammocks, vintage furniture and an eye-pleasing aesthetic that made us want to linger; at night, the warm lighting and cozy ambiance created the perfect setting to unwind and rest for another day of exploring. To top it all off, the staff was genuinely helpful. Arthur, in particular, gave us two unforgettable recommendations (a boat ride and a jeep tour) that ended up shaping our entire Paraty experience. We loved every second!

Great location, just a few minutes from the harbour and a nice beach. The hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming, making us feel at home. They also helped us with local tips and organized tours. Excellent value for money. The breakfast was also very good.

Emerald-coloured Forests and Turquoise Waters

Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.

White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.

North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.

As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.

    Paraty is a historical town in the state of Rio de Janeiro but border with São Paulo. Streets of rocks (not cobblestones) and colonial architecture is everywhere. Paraty is not famous for its beaches because they are not Sand beaches but rather famous for its charm and restaurants.

    It's an absolutely gorgeous place.

    It's an absolutely gorgeous place. There are many beautiful beaches, but the crown jewel is the sea, where you can find dozens of wonderful islands and beaches reached only by boat, so this is a mandatory tour. The historic center is cozy and has amazing architecture, several great restaurants, bars, homemade ice cream, and stores from local artisans.

    Historic town a delight to explore even though the stones are tiring to walk on (and slippy when wet). Lovely shops, restaurants and ice cream parlours. Lots of boat trips to choose from and the nearby waterfall was fun

    I had been to Paraty many times before, long ago, and wished to go back for my vacations. Paraty is a fabulous place to go if you wish to see what a colonial Brazilian city was like. Make sure to take good walking shoes for the streets are paved with very irregular stones!

    Unlike any other colonial town in Brazil, Paraty is by the seashore. It is very well preserved. There is much to do even in cloudy days, like visiting the rain forest and showering in the waterfalls.

    Paraty is a magical place. Worthwhile the trip.

    Paraty is a magical place. Worthwhile the trip. I visited the place in 2004 and now again after 20 years. Much has changed (many more shops and lots of boats), but the essence of the historical center and the magnificent bay did not. It will make you happy.

    We were actually very surprised at the very high standards of the Maré Mansa having stayed at many different Pousadas in Paraty and subsequently have been disappointed on many levels before - We ourselves are looking to set up a business in Paraty some time in the future and if we can provide the level and quality of service and facilities that Maré Mansa has to offer then we will be very happy. Well done and we will wholeheartedly recommend your establishment to anybody 10/10

    A family business run by a very nice lady! Although they don't speak much English they tried to accommodate and explain everything and gave me lots of tips. Very nice and friendly atmosphere and cozy Brazilian vibe <3 The location is also really good and very close to the old town. Felt really safe as a solo female traveler and was convenient to be able to return home walking after midnight since Uber is not much available in Paraty Really clean!
