Kyustendil is small town but beautiful and with many things to do there. You can go to the Osogovo mountain to ski, or to hike, there is a breathtaking views on the top. Nice places to eat are: Chainata, Tihiat kut, Hotel Ramira, Mayorskata kushta and ect. Visit the museum of Vladimir Dimitrov - maistora. The historical museum offers a lot to be seen as well. Go to spa! The mineral waters in Kyustendil are very healing and do not miss to enjoy the open water pools with hot water especially in winter time.Guest review byElina SpasovaBulgaria - 6.0
Kyustendil is not really a tourism city.
Kyustendil is not really a tourism city. Street names are in Bulgarian only; there are lots of restaurants on the square, but none had a menu in any language other than Bulgarian. Kyustendil exceeded my expectations: - it is not far away from Sofia; - the road from Sofia to Kyustendil is unexpectedly good, even excellent; - the center is big (for the town's dimensions), nice parks, wonderfully illuminated during the night; - loved the pedestrian area, the bridges; - unexpectedly good restaurants (Friends and Ramira), definitely recommend; - the view from the ancient fortress (Hisarluka), which is 5 min by car above the town is wonderful; - the gallery of Vladimir Dimitrov - Maystora is impressive; - last but not least - very friendly drivers (something uncommon, but worth mentioning).Guest review byEkaterinaBulgaria - 10.0
An absolute surprise!
An absolute surprise! Kyustendil is beautiful and enormously welcoming. The man in the Tourist Information Office was just lovely - as were the staff at the St George Monastery on the edge of town. And we even got to see a unique fire-theatre show in the town square ... Go there, people. The train journey from Sofia is beyond compare and we loved staying on the 11th floor of the Hotel Velbazhd with views across the entire valley. Lots of nice places to eat and drink on the main pedestrian street too. And all for the princely sum of 6.90BGN on BDZh from Sofia.Guest review byTomBulgaria - 8.0
