The city is calm, beautiful, and peaceful, offering plenty of places for photography and relaxation. It is definitely worth visiting. Negative: Unfortunately, there is a noticeable issue with tourist exploitation. Some locals make remarks in their language assuming visitors do not understand. A very pleasant surprise!
A very pleasant surprise! Half the price of London - a meal for two with a bottle of wine averaged £30. I'd recommend Borani and Dorma - both in Fountain Square - tasty food and extremely friendly. In August, the temperature is around 38 degrees but there is a cool breeze which took the edge off - most inside places are air-conditioned. Definitely download the Bolt app (Uber) - taxis are extremely cheap and handy to get around. We went to Shikh Beach which was 5 miles out and it only cost £3.50! It's a 6 hour flight from London and Azerbaijan Airlines were awesome - I'd definitely recommend this as an affordable and enjoyable destination!Guest review byDW73United Kingdom - 10.0

Baku is an amazing mix of history and modern life. The beautiful Old City with its narrow streets and historic buildings feels like stepping back in time, while the modern boulevard along the Caspian Sea is perfect for relaxing walks. People here are incredibly hospitable and always ready to help. The food is delicious — from fresh kebabs to local sweets. Everything is clean, safe, and easy to explore.
