The facility is an historic one, very elegant and cosy, overlooking the city and in a woody area. The managers were very friendly and helpful. They upgraded my accommodation due to plumbing problems. The breakfast was delicious and handmade. Highly recommended.

Nice hostel with great facilities. Clean and warm place with hot water. They left the keys in the room so we did not need to check in or wait for the receptionist.

The whole entire staff, could not fault this place in anyway, except the restaurant was closed on the night we arrived, havng to go into town to one of the pubs for dinner big let down, ( the one on the left as you drive into town) but it was made up the following night, as the restaurant was open, and wow the B O B Meal was fantastic. Not to mention the Garlic Prawns, Curry Scallops and the Bruschetta. Ask for room 37 it has a fantastic view of Mountains, that's if we haven't already booked it. LOL

We loved Queenstown, it's truly a hidden gem!

We loved Queenstown, it's truly a hidden gem! The people are so friendly, we had such wholesome conversations with many of the locals - this is truly one of the highlights of our trip. There is so much history documented about this place, the Galley museum was wonderful to explore and learn about before taking the Wilderness Railway the next day. The places to eat here are so good, the Gold Rush Inn had amazing food, as did the Moonscape Bar (you have to try the Sicilian Meatballs of they're on the menu!!) The scenery is surreal, being surrounded by the mountains, especially with the low hanging clouds and fog is an incredible experience. As an artist, it was so wonderful to see such a beautiful art community here, with resident artists and artwork on display in the lovely 'Soggy Brolly' - so many art murals to see too! Devastated we will miss out on their Arts event "Unconformity" this year, but will try and make it in two years time. Queenstown will definitely be the highlight of our trip, people need to venture the West Coast more often! We will be coming back here as soon as we're able. Do yourself a favour and stay in Queenstown asap!!

A very tired motel that has seen better days.

A very tired motel that has seen better days. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet but the town is just about dead. There is a lot of paint work that could happen around the units which would make it look a lot better and a new table that was strong would be great. I understand that the town is certainly not very busy these days and putting a lot of money into a hotel would probably not be wise, but I wouldn’t stay here again. I would go onto Strawn and stay in a nicer place.

    I loved Queenstown.

I loved Queenstown. Amazing scenery and walks, stunning physical beauty. Well worth seeing and doing Nelson Falls, Horsetail Falls and The Iron Blow Lookout plus longer walks we didn't have time for. Catch a movie at the Paragon Theatre, look but don't stay at The Empire Hotel. We didn't visit, or hear of any interesting museums.

The museum is amazing, especially when you grew up with half the things in there. Good range of history and through the ages as well. We rode motorcycles there and absolutely beautiful ride. You can make it on one tank from Ouse to Queenstown (based on a mildly worked 80ci Harley and two-up with luggage) as well as Queenstown to Deloraine (if you go that way). Suggest Two-three full days to see main things there. Empire Hotel is absolutely great old historical hotel to stay, eat and drink. Remember it is very old so expect that the rooms are not like a new roadside hotel! History galore. The train station is great for coffee and food also (opposite the Empire Hotel. There is a historical train ride but book well in advance. Make sure your vehicle etc is in good shape as spares etc are limited and so is delivery times. Don't book a short trip, you miss so much, research areas well and take full advantage. We have to go back again and not complaining about it either!

An interesting town with a lot of mining history.

An interesting town with a lot of mining history. There are a number of areas around the town which are worth visiting and there are several easy day trips. The Gallery Museum is a definite must do. The history of mining and the town itself has been wonderfully captured and presented.

What I liked most about the location was the free parking right outside. Before that, you have to park a street away for. Ralph, the owner, could tell so much about the past, the area, the routes, and help with planning your trip itinerary. He shared a lot about Tasmania, the developments, Queenstown, and even details about where exactly the B&B was located. The breakfast, was amazing. Thank you so much!

Really interesting hotel and worth a stay if you are in Queenstown but like other places, there is not much money in the town for renovations. It would have been wonderful to see the rooms upstairs fully restored to match the beautiful staircase and hallways which themselves are in need of a good clean and restoration. Beds comfy, breakfast basic, pub grub dinners.

This was the perfect over night stay in Queenstown. Everything about our room was perfect. To top it all off we ate at the restaurant attached to the motel and that too was 9/10. The other 1 point was no fault of the restaurant they were down to only 1 chef that night so was a little longer then usual wait on meals.
