big room with comfortable setting. I was not intended to stay there, just because I’m too sleepy and not able to arrive my planned destination. And it turns out to be a surprise. Like the employee there, Fred? He was very helpful and kind. Thank you.

Had a wonderful few nights at Rathmore. Call generously upgraded us to the Cottage so our little family could have some more space. Cottage is great for kids. Easy under an hour drive up to Maydena to ride. Shearers quarters would be a great location for a group as well. Beautiful property and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Thank you!

"My wife and I were pleasantly surprised and delighted to spend a night at Ratho Farm. During our stay, we learned a bit about the farm’s history, the pioneers who first established it, and the challenges they faced during the early days of Bothwell and Tasmania. We truly enjoyed listening to Greg passionately share his family’s memories. We came away inspired and deeply impressed by the courage, creativity, and compassion of Greg’s ancestors."

    The advertising information was misleading.

The advertising information was misleading. I thought I had booked an apartment in the yellow house on the corner. On arrival I found it was a little brown cottage. It would be helpful if apartments 1 & 2 were advertised separately as they are quite different. Photos too gave a false impression. They need to specify which photos belong to each apartment.

After 3 days at the east coast, coming up to this Scottish looking town was a beautiful change. We loved being back in the colonial times- Buildings, architecture, bumblebees going about their business, fruit trees in town (plums and apples just there hanging over fences). Almost no one on the streets. We had a 40 min walk in town then stayed at Ratho Farm (loved it)(excellent old-world charm, with clean and new bathrooms). Probably wouldn't stay in town because the nearby farm stay was so good!

Its like going back in time.

Its like going back in time. Its peaceful and relaxing, There is a good pub that has delicious meals and nice cold Beer. There is a place called Sealy's that serves plenty of scumptuos food to choose from and a Golf Museum and old buildings, its worthwhile going there for a decent rest. Away from the rat race. Fishing close by. Everything to get, get, get away for you to relax with no-one bothering you. Cheers. get onto it right now.

An historic glimpse of Scottish early settlement in Tasmania...

An historic glimpse of Scottish early settlement in Tasmania. The homestead was where we shared the evening meals and we were regained with stories from the past. If you love Outlander, it is the closest thing to River Run, minus Jocasta in Australia. The homestead is built on the River Clyde. You can put your feet in the bubbling stream and see the Hairy Moo Cow in the back. The 200 your old Oak trees are majestic and there is a story to be told if you are interested in history of the first golf course in Australia, Ratho farm is a good place to stay for a night on your Tasmanian adventure.
