FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart

International Airport. Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

It was my third trip to Salzburg, but it had been about 15 years since my last trip and my husband's first time so I got to see it with new eyes! Lots to see but lots of tourists as well so plan to be there outside of the busy times (ie. not during the Salzburg Music Festival!) if you can. It's easy to walk everywhere and the public transportation is excellent (get a guest card from your accomodation to avail yourself of free transportation while staying at paid accomodation in the city). Great views from the top of the Modern Art Museum (take the lift or walk) and of course from the Castle!

You only need one day to explore Salzburg, it’s a very old city, you don’t have much activities there, only the old town which was fine. There is many cities in Austria that are much better than Salzburg. In my opinion don’t waste your time in it.

Salzburg left a wonderful impression on me. The city radiates peace and charm, and every walk feels like a new discovery. It offers the perfect balance between exploration and relaxation. Getting around on your own is easy and convenient. I also loved the wide variety of international cuisines available, all at very reasonable prices.

Salzburg is a true tourist’s paradise—breathtaking views, warm and welcoming people, rich culture, and amazing food. We stayed for 4 nights, but it simply wasn’t enough to take it all in properly. There’s so much to see and explore—definitely worth a longer trip! Getting around Salzburg is super easy. Public transport is excellent—reliable, well-connected, and tourist-friendly. We had free mobility passes, which made it even better. If you’re driving, it’s extremely comfortable and can cover more places easily, but make sure to start early—traffic builds up as the day goes on. In addition to exploring salzburg city, we also visited nearby gems like Hallstatt, and Berchtesgaden—each one unbelievably beautiful and unique. Though we couldn’t make it to the salt mines in Hallstatt or Berchtesgaden, we did the one in Bad Dürrnberg (a short bus ride from Hallein), and it was an unforgettable 90-minute tour 1,500 meters underground—crossing from Austria into Germany and back! The Celtic village there was fascinating, and the Sommerrodelbahn turned out to be one of our favorite memories. There are absolute gems like St. Gilgen, Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, and Bad Goisern that are still on our list to explore. We’re definitely planning a return trip—Salzburg deserves at least a full week to truly experience it all.

H+ Hotel Salzburg is just adjoining the main train station as you exit just on to the right side is the Hotel. Adjoin the hotel you have a Starbucks MacDonald and a mall. This was very useful as we came from the train from another city and was leaving to Vienna by Train from Salzburg. The Old town and other areas were easily accessible by bus as the main Salzburg bus terminal is adjoining the Hotel.

Happy I booked this hotel: friendly and helpfull hotel staff, cozy, clean and confortable rooms, good location to go directly to the old city centre by walking, good breakfast, nice hotel lounge with free coffe and tea and socialize with others. The parking has an extra fee of 18 or 25 euro, it depends on the parking location. Salzburg city is superb and it is worth to visit.
