Reviews we read of Shkoder said it's a university town with lots of biking. Not sure what those reviewers were writing about, but there weren't many bike friendly areas and the town was not as vibrant as we expected. We did spend some time in the Shiroka area on the lake a 10 minute or so drive from Shkoder and that was very nice - good restaurants and lake activities. Shkoder is a lovely city with great views, food and nice accommodation facilities. It's a safe place for families and youths with lots of activities around. We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder.
We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder. I liked how there was plenty to do and see in town, and also very close to Theth which is a must see. We also booked a tour of the Shalla River and that was beautiful too! The thing that was challenging was riding on the local buses that don’t always have good air conditioning and are full with passengers in the summer months.Guest review byMcMellen - 10.0
I love the mountains, I love the lake, and biking around...
I love the mountains, I love the lake, and biking around town and going out to the old bridge and going to the Venetian mask factory. And of course, there are the vans that take you to the Komini ferry trip, which just looks just like a Norwegian fjord, and other vans that will take you to a fantastic hike across the mountains. And just a couple hours. You can be in Montenegro, are in the capital city of Tirana. The people are very nice and accommodating. It’s definitely worth several days. I have been about five or six times I guess. And there is a great pedestrian mall where you can find fun bars at night and really great places to eat in the evening.Guest review byAnimexMexico

The overall feeling is great, with each bed having its own bedside lamp and curtain for privacy. The location is convenient to both the bus station and the city center. The hostel owner helped us arrange everything for our hike transportation to Theth and from Valbona back to Shkodër. He is very friendly and helpful, and always willing to assist with any questions.
