The location is superb. You are surrounded by nature. You will likely see and hear the howling monkeys and some nice birds. Also, it is great that you can prepare food on a wood-fired barbecue so make sure to bring some meat. There is also a place where you can make a bonfire in the evening. Throughout the day you have a river for yourself with refreshing water in which you can swim. The hosts were a very friendly couple and made nice breakfast at anytime. If you do not speak Spanish it is no problem, because Google translate can be used. The rooms and bathrooms itself are very clean and up-to-date with new equipment (e.g. Airco, Rain-shower) I would highly recommend to stay here as it is a unique experience in Costa Rica. It is recommended to bring some cash in advance for the payment, because the ATM in the village nearby did not worked for me.

With mountain views, Tapirus Lodge and Reserve is situated in Carrillo and has a restaurant, a concierge service, bar, garden and terrace.

Location and viewing of flora and fauna was exceptional during our stay. James was an exceptional birding tour guide. Food and service was exceptional, The tram ride through the rainforest was awesome.
