This is a small gem away from big cities. I wanted to spend a few days away from the busy life and this place was perfect. I could get there 99 % of the way using my JR Pass, gps map on my phone and two words I know in Japanese (hello and thank you). The host is very generous and friendly. They hold themselves to a high hospitality standard. In terms of attractions, there’s a culturally significant (and beautiful) Buddhist temple near by and Mt Minobu. You can hike the mountain or take a cable car. Overall I got a great value out of my stay. And the food was good too so I recommend you include that as well.

Apart from the noise from the tatami room aircon unit everything else was perfect. I particularly liked the washing machine that one can choose temperature. The majority of washing machines here in Japan do not have that option.

There is a bus stop directly in front of the hotel with a direct connection from Fujikawaguchiko. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the area. The hotel may look unassuming from the outside, but inside it’s an old, incredibly charming, and immaculately clean place. The hotel owner is extremely friendly and accommodating. We were able to reserve the private onsen right away. The rooms are enormous, designed in a traditional style, and truly spacious, with seating areas that offer direct views of the lake and, of course, Mount Fuji. It’s absolutely breathtaking. The onsen is also a dream, offering a direct view of Mount Fuji. The kaiseki dinner was the most beautiful and freshest we’ve ever had. All in all, during our 7-week trip through Japan, we didn’t stay at a more beautiful hotel!

The location was great, not far from the train station. I could see Mt Fuji from in front of the house. The room was clean. The facilities were great.
