Facing the seafront in Naviti Island, Wai Makare Homestay features a private beach area and a garden. The homestay has family rooms. I adored this place and could have stayed forever. Emily and the boys were so nice and made my stay wonderful. Loads of activities available like snorkelling, manta rays, hiking, spearfishing, kayaking, but all can be done on your own timetable (as in, no fixed group spots like at resorts). The food was homely, varied, and delicious, made from locally grown or foraged ingredients like cassava and seagrapes. The beach is beautiful, with some of the most colourful reefs I’ve seen anywhere just a 50m swim out. The rooms are basic, but great if that’s what you’re expecting. A warning: there’s no internet reception, so prepare accordingly (a weak reception might be available if you walk down the beach and up some rocks)
