Together with my 13-year-old daughter I had the pleasure to spend one week in the Pirate Arts Resort on Carenero Island. At first, I was hesitant to fly all the way from Germany to Panama but luckily my daughter insisted. And it was so worth it. Before we even sat foot on the island, we were very well taken care of. Weeks in advance, the managing director sent us a welcome letter which included how to get there, a very nice selection of trips and excursions to do, where to eat, etc. It also included some very practical tips in terms of which insect-repellent to buy and to stop at the local supermarket to buy the snacks you will be craving after dinner. When we finally sat foot on the island it felt like stepping into another world. There was the main house with the restaurant (it was closed when we visited but will be reopened in December and the whole operations will be run by a German chef – funny coincidence) and then there were a couple of separate 2-story houses with apartments in a tropical garden. Oh, that garden. So well maintained and so beautiful. Our apartment had a huge veranda with a table for four, a hammock, some lounge chairs (this is where I enjoyed my morning coffee) and 2 deck-chairs. Ah, and there was a star-fruit tree right in front of our house and we took full advantage of it 😊 On the veranda was a huge ventilator to keep the mosquitos away. Inside the apartment we had a big room with a fully furnished kitchen and living room with lots of books and board games. Our suite had 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. All the rooms have air-conditioning and ventilators. I also loved the fact that there were flower arrangements on every table and a fruit basket in the kitchen. Yummy. Behind the house was a washing-machine and a dryer – all very convenient. The people working there were very friendly – it felt more like a community. I stayed a week. The apartment was clean, Air-conditioning was super, and it had cable tv with movie and documentary channels. The host was always helpful via WhatsApp and booking app. He gave me many advices for places to eat and tours. I met him in person and he is a clever guy with awesome sense of humour. They cleaned every 2-3 days or on request respecting your privacy 100%! Super value for money near to everything. The hight light was to wake up with the sounds of the birds in a tropical environment. For the prices and service it was a bargain. Thank you Mr Mauricio.

Excellent accommodation, hosts and stay Fabulous hosts, a lovely couple and very helpful. Provided a great PDF welcome pack with suggestions of things to do near by including food etc. They also gave us advice and tips for things to do and enjoy in the area as well as expected prices for taxis which we found very helpful. They own *Ohana, a restaurant a short walk away, which did truly excellent food. The breakfasts at the accommodation were good also. Room was lovely and spacious with practical extras like a hanging space for wet clothes and suitcase rack! Laundry can also be done there at a small cost. They couldn't do enough to help and we extended our stay as it was so lovely!

Epic private studio, had cable tv with English which was amazing as I was sick. Kitchen had everything you needed and more. Lovely staff, clothes came back cleaner than new. 10/10
