The place is cozy, organized, clean, very spacious and has a great vibe. You feel very relaxed and disconnected in this cabin surrounded by nature. Tebla (the host) is beyond kind, he is very cordial and helpful, one of the nicest people we met in Botswana. He makes sure you have a great stay and want's to genuinely help you. The place location is not easy to find if you hire a local cab on the street, so I would recommend hiring the shuttle service with Acacia Cottage.

Very nice hosts, super helpful when necessary (eg. getting us a taxi). The apartment is in an area that looks like it could be not super safe to walk around alone at night, but it is inside a fenced property and we felt very safe inside. Nice furniture, a lot of blankets (which were needed cause it was an abnormally cold night!) and nice equipped kitchen and bathroom.

Maun is the starting point to every trip to the Okavango Delta as it is where the airport and travel agencies are located, but the city itself has nothing of interest and sadly local people would try to make extra money by overcharging tourists, so I recommend to check all fares before visiting (taxi fares, any extra service and even souvenirs). In terms of wildlife, you might see some interesting birds in the Thamalakane River (like Goliath herons) but nothing compared to what the centre of the Delta has to offer.
Maun is a great city nd the people was helpful and friendly. We found everything we needed for example, safe drinking water, food and meat that meets the standard. The services was great for we were at Midas and found stuff there as well as Taurus batteries to fix a problem with my fridge, PG glass for a small windscreen crack and Spar for all our supplies. Mac air for the flight over the delta!!!
The only thing I didn’t like was my stay at 53 apartments guesthouse. Everything else was splendid. My highlight was the cuisine at Runway 08, a restaurant next to the airport. I also enjoyed an hr long boat cruise just behind Cresta Matlapana accompanied with good music, drinks and food (that we brought ourselves). It was a very affordable activity to partake in. The night life is also not too bad, there are quite a few chilled places like Cresta Matlapana & Il Pomodoro.
When you see distance to town center for hotels in Maun, don't be deceived like I was. Town center is a ratty 4 way stop, nothing you want to be too close to. There are a few places in Maun that may be OK but you have to do your research and they are spread out.
For tourists going into the delta I recommend at least a day in Maun to check out the local sights and meet some of the locals. Botswana and Maun in particular see tourists come in and go straight out to the delta, so no added benefit to the residents just a constant flow of people leaving nothing of benefit to the local community Stop over in a local hotel, there are plenty to suit every ones finances, interact with the local community there is lots to do and see
We did not stay for long, but for stocking up the twon a good amount of shops and chain stores you may also know from South Africa. Unfortunately, the croc farms seems to have closed down, the local game park was closed for rehabilitation, and the museum was closed for the weekend.
