An incredibly vibrant small town in the desert. The tours available to surrounding areas make it a first choice destination. The diversity in the landscape from the salt lakes to the high mountain geysers is just amazing. The availability of different food choices is really good. Pizza, pasta, empanadas, stews etc. There is a fabulous bakery ,La Franchicheria, on Licanbur street that every minibus stops at to pick up the bread for the tours(breakfasts luncheons snacks included in the tour). Their white chocolate and raspberry croissant is just the best ever.
Unfortunately as it was a full moon and cloudy we didn't get to do any stargazing. For our tours we used Mitampi on Caracoles Street. Ask for Julian.

A small and beautiful city, in the middle of the desert, focused on turism. The places to visit are extremely beautiful and unique. Good restaurants and easy to get around. I've been there in December, dont know if it is the best time of the year because it is very hot. Maybe october or april would be better.

This was the second time for us at San Pedro, and the first time with our 8 years old kid. We loved how the town has changed from the first time we visited, while maintaining traditions that make it so unique. The landscape is so overwhelming that you can't help feeling touched by nature. For chileans it's the perfect way to connect to our past, while for the foreigners is a beautiful way to discover the richness of our cultural past.
There are good restaurants that will totally satisfy sophisticated palates and street food that will make you feel like a chilean citizen.
One important issue is that national parks allow general public during mornings while they reserve afternoons for tour agencies. If you want to use agencies, the best is to use the mornings to visit the town, museums, buy souvenirs and the likes. If you rent a car and want to drive to the natural attractions, you have to do it in the morning. So, depending on your preferences, you should plan in advance.

San Pedro itself is just a small town in the Atacama desert. But the Atacama desert was amazing. You can drive yourself, but I would recommend the tours. They were excellent, provided wonderful meals and the guides were very good. Also, some of the roads were in pretty bad shape.
Incredible place to visit. Plan 3-4 days.

Fantastic area even for those who’ve seen desert landscapes...
Fantastic area even for those who’ve seen desert landscapes before (like us). Valle de la Luna, Cesar Lagoon, Piedras Rojas and Geyser de Tatio are all worth seeing. We also did the astronomical tour which was quite disappointing for us (we come from an area which has very low light pollution and the night skies are superb), but it could be fun for those who haven’t seen the splendour of starry night scenes before.
The town centre has a great vibe with lots of restaurants, little shops and tons of tour companies.
Easy place to spend a week.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The property is incredibly beautiful and so much effort has been put into the decor and layout. It feels very relaxing and tranquil. My room was also stunning and beautifully decorated. The internet works really well no matter where you are. Breakfast is very good and there is access to filtered water provided by the hotel. It is located about six minutes from the Main Street in San Pedro which is good because it is very quiet. The llamas by the pool are adorable.
Comfortable bed, clean, beautiful garden with pool (that’s in the desert!), plenty of spaces for outdoor relaxation. It has secluded parking spaces, while many other visitors have to park outside of the town. The hotel is a block away from the city center.
The manager Italo spent a lot of time with us discussing our itinerary. Very friendly, supportive, easygoing and knowledgeable. Many thanks to him!
Everything .. especially excellent hospitality of all staffs, attention to detail in all aspects i.e. always asked if we need breakfast box in case we have to leave the hotel early, always tried to secure parking space for us, remembered what we liked to order for breakfast. I can go on and on but I really recommend this hotel and I think hotel desertica is deserved 5 stars!!
San Pedro de Atacama is a small, dusty desert town. Hotel Kimal is not -- it is an oasis in the desert. The property is clean, well-maintained, safe, and conveniently located. The restaurant on-premises is welcoming and of excellent quality, including the small but well-chosen selection of drinks.
Breakfast was flexible, even when leaving at 4AM for tours. Staff was very friendly. We also loved the bed warmers, as several people we met from other hotels mentioned the room was very cold. Also, hot water in the shower was incredible, especially compared to other hotels.
Hotel staff came to Calama (100 km) to pick us up.
Big bed, soft pillows, good shower.
Kitchen and living room availble during the day.
Local excursions arranged for by staff.
Good lunch box on simple request.
Nice roof terrace.
Quiet location.
I had an excellent stay. The hostel is clean, well managed and perfect for a trip to San Pedro de Atacama. The breakfast is excellent, and they even made me a to-go bag on the morning I was unable to make breakfast because of a tour.
The hotel was clean and well organized. I arrived late (around 9:30PM) but check-in went smoothly. The hotel even packed me a small snack/breakfast bag because my shuttle bus to Bolivia was picking me up at 6:30 in the morning.
the location is really good, service is Friendly.
and the tour agency by hotel, oasis expediciones with discount is very good.
I did those tours excluding entrance fees only.

I enjoyed how friendly and helpful the staff was. They prepared me a breakfast-to-go bag when I had to leave early. The hotel had an outdoor community space but also each room has a personal outdoor space.
Outstanding hotel, a wonderful oasis in San Pedro de Atacama. Lovely rooms, very quiet despite its central location, outstanding staff. The bistro like restaurant serves excellent food and breakfast.
The lodge is outside of San Pedro de Atacama, so you do need a car or bike. .They do have a big kitchen with fridge which you can use. The guy taking care of the lodge was very friendly and helpful
Great option in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. The room was very confortable and super clean. Good breakfast and staff services! Wifi with 5G running very well. I recommend Corvatsch for sure!
Very nice hotel located conveniently close to main street. Breakfast was very good and we liked the fact that the hotel offers free drinking water using refillable bottles.
One if the greatest hotels I have ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble for Alex the manager and it had everything one needed. Why can’t all hotels be like this?
